T-shirt designs. One size fits all.
Before there was Twitter® there were tees. Twitter® thinks they invented brevity as a means of immediate individual expression, but c’mon now Jack! Tee shirts been have been doing this ever since Eve wore a 100% cotton Pussy Riot Summer Tour 2019 XL as a night shirt in the Garden of Eden.

(FROM THE TOP) PMS is not a CRIME • VINNIE’S TAMPON CASE tee (as seen “in action” on the bathroom floor by my daughter Ziz) • SUPER d! SHOW for SUPERDVILLE.com • SAFE IS SEXY concept for REV(olution) Planned Parenthood Youth Leadership program in OR • • Knitting takes balls for Debbie Stoller (her idea, my illustration). Debbie is the editor and founder of BUST Magazine as well as the author of the best-selling Stitch an Bitch book series. We shared an office on 5th avenue– and as the only guy on the floor, she’d use me as her body model for her men’s knitwear test designs.
Tee for the I WAS RAPED project created by writer/activist Jennifer Baumgardner. A pale pink shirt with an illustration of a safe, and inside the safe is a note emblazoned with the words, I was raped. “A shirt that would help chip away at the cone of silence that surrounds a crime with humiliation at its core.” –New York Times • Two VINNIE’S TAMPON CASE® tees: the “Letterman” swoosh as modeled by the mini-Vinnie VTC intern Lucas, and the DJ VINNIE tee, that was fashioned into a skirt by the ever-clever Todd Oldham for a spread in Maker Magazine. • Chop Suey Bookstore logo Tee: designed for Ward Teft, the original owner of this Richmond, VA landmark. Of course I’d run into people wearing it at the Strand in NYC. • The ORIGINAL VTC tee that we offered at the grand opening of the Vinnie’s Tampon Case storefront on Eldridge Street in the Lower East Side of Manhattan a handful of years ago (sigh). • One of the official GOATS tee shirts printed by their label (Rufhouse/Columbia). Everyone would steal my GOATS shirts so I no longer have em (groupies…). Found a few online, but c’mon now peoples! $200-300 for a used tee shirt? I’ll take my chances at Salvation army, thank you very much.
• Green Monster tees: In college my brothers and I started a business selling tee shirts outside Fenway Park in Boston. Initially we offered two shirt designs drawn by my brother Gus: the Bleacher Creature tee and the wildly popular Green Monster tee. Our first few batches I hand silkscreened in our basement right before we headed to the game. We didn’t always have time to heat cure the ink so some people did come back and ask for a refund after the design disappeared in their wash. Eventually, as our hawking skills improved, and I was able to quit my job at TGIF and we were able to hire a professional printer to keep up with the demand. Honing our designs in the subsequent years was good training as to what elements are essential for a successful tee. We worked the cart ourselves the first three seasons, until the biz became so successful that we were able to hire crews and only occasionally have to pick up a few shifts to sling shirts during extended home stands.
• FRIGGIN Magnets® tee: Modeled here by my heroic wife, Sarah Sockit. • Running KY Jelly screen print and occasional shirt design. I made some throw pillows for my mom with this image– a subtle joke that backfired, as she’d pull them off her couch and always show them to guests when I visited. • Idea for a line of Planned Parenthood tees that men (and non-men) would actually wear. Custom shirts for each PP franchise, with a central image that hypes their local offering or reputation. • Official Obombs “Breaditis” Shirt (the Battle of the Books Sunnyside School champs 3 yrs in a row) Shirt designed by ZizaBeach and PopJazz • Buds Doses. All American • More tees for SUPERDVILLE.

• (ABOVE) A few shirts I didn’t design but love. ANYTHING YOU CAN DO • I MAKE MY MOM SAD designed by Amris Bamazruk • DRESS CODES ARE SEXIST is worn by its creator, Sophia Trevino. Maybe I’m just a sucker for a yellow tee shirt? (BELOW) The PUSSY RIOT 2019 TOUR tee shirt that Eve wore in the Garden of Eden, and a few pics of the band.
